Foundation for Science and Disability

The Student Award Program of FSD helps to increase opportunities in science, engineering, mathematics, technology, and pre‑medical/dental areas for graduate or professional students with disabilities. 

FSD has established a Science Graduate Student Grant Fund, which is available to fourth year undergraduates (who are disabled and have been accepted to a graduate or professional school in the sciences) and graduate science students who have a disability. 

Awards of $1000 each are made to support research projects of qualified university students in any field of Mathematics, Science, Medicine, Technology, or Engineering.

Non-hereditary, non-congenital S.C.I. disability 100% Tuition Paid In state tuition paid at 100%.  
Out of state tuition paid at 125% of the in-state cost

Application Deadline:  March 15, 2018

Scholarship Eligibility

   - Open only to UNLV admitted students pursuing bachelor's, Master's,
   Professional, or Doctoral Degrees
   - A 500-word essay on your personal educational and long-term goals
   - Letter of recommendation required
   - Documentation of disability required

*S.C.I. is required for this scholarship only and is not a criterion for admission to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas

​In 2021, a federal discretionary grant (P116D210002) was awarded via  the National Center for Information and Technical Support for Postsecondary Students with Disabilities Program (NCITSPSD) to the University of Minnesota’s Institute on Community Integration (ICI-UMN), in full partnership with the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) and is authorized by Congress in the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (777.4). 

The NCITSPSD program grant was originally awarded in 2015 (P116D150005) to the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD).
